Adult Acne – How To Deal With It

 

Nearly 10 – 15 percent of adult men and women suffer from adult acne.  Acne in a teenager is acceptable in the society we live as it is considered as it is caused due to hormonal imbalance.  But in the case of adults it is seen as a result of unhygienic living.
Although the actual fact is not known for the occurrence of  acne in adults, it is believed due to unhealthy foods, stress , obesity, hormone problem and even due to hereditary.

Acne scarring results in emotional scarring as has adverse effects on the psyche and makes the person depress.  Either you accept the fact or go in for a treatment.

What is an acne?

Acne is formed due to over secretion of the sebaceous glands producing more oil which combines with dead cells and infected by bacteria.  It is either characterized by a black head, white head or even as red bumps. It is not necessary that it should occur on the face but can appear any where in the body.

Most of the acne treatment creams and ointments are applied on top of the acne, the constituent being benzyl peroxide.  When the application the acne subdues and flares up after it is stopped.

Antibiotics  are used to treat acne as it kills the bacteria which is actually required by the skin to inhibit the aging process and antibiotics also deteriorate the immune system.

The medications and chemicals used in treating acne are found to produce umpteen side effects which is the matter of concern now.  They result in liver diseases sometimes leading to even transplant of liver.  They result in jaundice, reduces immune capacity, results in the inflammation of the lungs, discoloration of  skin, nails, mucous membrane and even the internal organs. They are supposed to cause headaches, nausea, visual impairment and even heart problems. It might even cause irritation of the skin, skin peeling, urogenital problems and gastrointestinal disorders.  The side effects are many and hence utmost care needs to be taken in the treatment of acne, seeing all the adverse effects it is better to avoid medication rather than follow a healthy routine.

It is easy to follow a healthy diet consisting of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds rich in vitamin a, e and b5 which prevents and treats acne. Zinc supplements and foods rich in zinc and antioxidants relieves from acne.

Anti stress relievers like yoga, meditation, tai chi helps in the circulation of blood and also releases the toxin of the skin via sweating.  A healthy mind and body gives a glowing skin free from blemishes and acne.
